Great
lesson today. It was nice to finally meet you and get to work.
Hopefully you enjoyed our lesson as much as I did. I look foward
to doing it again. Please let me know if you end up moving back
to Chicago.
You may have already
found it on my site, but below is a link to the "Hi-Hat Variations"
sheet. Keep challenging yourself with these, and don't forget
to move your right hand to different instruments on the kit (ride,
snare, toms, rims, cowbell) or split the rhythm in your right
hand between two or three instruments; this will yield some pretty
cool grooves. Also keep adding more and more complex bass drum
and snare drum patterns (inner beats, ghost notes, etc.)

We didn't talk a
ton about brushwork, but here are some great patterns that Jeff
Hamilton personally wrote down for me. Below that is a transcription
I did of him that showcases some of his trademark techniques.

Also, periodically
check my Music
Education site for more drum lessons and transcriptions. I
constantly post new things there and they are basically free lessons.
Take care and keep
me posted on your whereabouts.
